The Shouty Woman

You may have noticed that things have been quite quiet around here lately. This is partly because I’ve been ill and on holiday, but it’s also because I simply haven’t been inspired to write.

I’m still angry, but recently the fight has gone out of me. I’m fed up with feminists attacking each other when we should be working together. The level of vitriol displayed on certain sites and newsgroups has been disgusting, and I don’t want to be a part of it any more. This post from Andrea sums up how I feel.

So I’m taking a break. I may be back, I may not. Thanks to everyone who’s read what I have to say – this may not be the last you hear from me…

Lucy xx

  1. Aw I’m sorry Lucy, thought I totally understand how you feel. Take care. xxx

  2. That tends to be a problem with many among the left. Whether you blog again keep up the fight and do what feels right.

  3. I empathise with you – the infighting within this online community is unbelievable, and the exchange on Protest Now was needlessly confrontational. In fact it was totally pointless. It has made me pretty angry, but there are often views expressed on blogs that I read which I disagree with. I will continue to use my blog as a platform to talk about my own experiences and to respect the online spaces that I visit even if I don’t respect the views expressed. I hope you decide to come back reading your blog is always a pleasure.
